Polishing is a process of cleaning the glass and maintaining the shine on it. Cerium oxide powder is one of the most important products which are commercialized for polishing. It is generally available in yellowish white color and is pale in look. It has certain properties which create wonders and made it gain a place by replacing the other metal oxides. The metal oxides included iron and zirconia and were previously in use.

The procedure for using cerium oxide polishing powder


The cerium oxide polishing powder shall be damped with water and shall not be fully wet. Then it shall be made into a fine paste and applied on the affected area with scratches.

The perfect consistency of the powder can be achieved by sprinkling water at regular intervals while mixing it with an iron rod or a wooden stick.

Before applying the paste, the glass shall be cleaned so that there is no grime or cost left behind while polishing.

Be careful with the consistency of the paste. The paste shall not be too runny.

The next step is to pour the paste on the glass and leave it till the excess paste is collected in a tub.

It shall be followed by kneading on the affected area.

Cautions to be taken during the usage of the powder


The affected area shall not be kneaded when the paste is dry.

The paste shall be wiped off when dry.

The decolorizing of glass takes place only by using cerium oxide polishing powder. The green impurities of iron are turned colorless with the help of this polishing powder. It is a great dissolving agent in water and the main purpose of using it is to remove the strain marks and scratches.
